User Ratings and Reviews
3 Stars Some useful information for the beginning copywriter
First, a disclaimer. I have some 40 years of experience in copywriting and the author has far less. So my expectations were perhaps too high. I also noticed on his site that he charges what I would expect a junior copywriter to charge. So, for me, at least, he had nothing to offer. The beginning copywriter, however, may garner some information here which would help him.
Having said that, he did a fine job of writing. The material was presented well and should be useful to some non-copywriters or beginning copywriters. He is not a fan of direct response copywriting online. I do not agree with this.
While long copy is not always good, it has it’s place. I was not impressed with his ideas. I’d like to see proof that his ideas are superior before I could buy into them.

4 Stars One part of SEO explained.
Jon Wuebben does a good job in helping you create a website content plan that will have a positive effect on your search engine rankings. I agree that there might have been more detailed writing tutorials and examples. But after reading this book you will have a better understanding of how content affects your search engine rankings and what to do about it.
I found Chapters 3-5 particularly helpful in developing a content strategy that I now recommend to clients. For more “how-to” writing advice, I recomment you turn to Bob Bly or Joe Sugarman.
5 Stars Writing Your Way to Wealth on the Web
Content Rich is an SEO Copywriting book which aims to help you increase search engine rankings and increase sales conversions through writing on the web. For those who haven’t heard of the term, “copywriting” is the method of writing to promote a company, product, person or even a concept.
On the web, copywriters still have do their best to promote the product or service however they also need to think about the search engines and how their copy can help promote their company. Jon Wuebben has offered copywriting services through his company, Custom Copywriting, since 2003. They are one of the leading SEO Copywriting companies on the net, and Jon is certainly in a position to talk about the subject.
The book itself is of a high quality. It’s about 260 pages long and has a 22 page introduction which discusses how Jon got into the business and explains exactly what copywriting is and how it can help you. The main content of the book is split into 3 parts :
1. SEO Copywriting : The Basics (5 chapters)
2. All The Flavours of SEO Web Copywriting (6 chapters)
3. Real World SEO Copywriting Examples & the rest (7 Chapters)
I was pleased that the book included the introduction and the basic chapters. Although I knew what copywriting was, I had never read a book about it, so my knowledge of the subject was limited. He discusses a range of topics including keyword research, PageRank, HeatMaps and more. In part 2 Jon covers Link Building, Press Releases, Newsletters and Landing Pages. There’s a short chapter dedicated to blogs though it doesn’t really go into too much detail, which isn’t a major problem as most things in the book are applicable to bloggers. The last chapters (part 3) concentrate on those who are looking at copywriting as a career. Jon shows talks about the differences between writing for small businesses and large corporations and he gives some tips on how to get into full time employment as a copywriter.
As you would expect from a full time copywriter, the book is extremely well written. Everything is broken down into smaller chapters and he uses a lot of bullet points and screenshots from the web to help illustrate what he means, which is good news because this book has a lot of information.
As someone who didn’t know a lot about copywriting, I got a lot from this book. Everything in the book is applicable to bloggers and I’m sure it will help you become a better writer. $13.57 for this hard cover book is an absolute steal and I highly recommend buying it. 5 Stars Content Rich
Technology might change but the basic foundations of marketing stay the same. Simply put, you might have the greatest product in the world but if no one knows about it you aren’t going to make any sales. So the key to any successful business is bringing in potential customers and making them clients.
Here’s where Content Rich comes in. This book looks at ways to bring people to your website then encourage them to buy your product. To bring clients to your site, the author looks primarily at search engine optimization, making sure that your site rates well within google, yahoo, and other like search engines. The biggest concerns here are making sure that your metatag keywords and your actual site content work together for the best possible results.
Once you’ve got potential customers coming to your site, you can focus on making these people actual clients. Making sure your site is intuitive and easy to scan for the appropriate information is key. Adding a little buzz and regularly adding content will also help.
5 Stars How-To’s & Strategies For Web Content
Jon states that his book is: The complete SEO Copywriting Guide for Search Engine Rankings and Sales Conversion
A few of the chapter titles are similar to what you would expect for Search Engine Optimization:
- Keyword Research
- Optimizing Your Site Content
But most of the book is about writing content for good Search Engine Optimization. It is a copywriting book.
In the first couple of chapters I found some really useful strategies for content creation.
Jon actually taught me two very useful things:
- How to analyze your web copy
- How to prioritize which type of content you need to get what you want out of being online
If you are in any way involved in writing for the web, the first few chapters alone are worth the price of the book.
There are little nuggets throughout the book. Nuggets to help you get maximum value out of your online content.
At first, I thought I would skim through the chapters on subjects that are familiar to me. But the book was well worth a full read.
It is obvious that Jon has the experience and knows what he is talking about. He knows how to improve your web copy for better SEO for both humans and search engines.
There are chapters for different types of online copywriting:
- Web copy
- Articles
- Press releases
- Viral copy for blogs, RSS, and Wikis
- Pay per click, landing pages and banner ads
- Emails and newsletters
Jon also explains the differences in copywriting between small companies and large corporations. There are case studies. And there is also a wealth of information on how to become a SEO Copywriter.
This book is great for anyone involved in web content: Marketers, writers, and even technical web users.
What I most appreciated was how it is easy to see the strategies that go with the “how-to’s”. It’s not often you find this mix in a book. This makes it easier to see the whole picture of writing the content and using your content to get the results you want.
