4 Stars There is more to it that meets the eye
When I decided to start my own small business and self-publish several books, I quickly learned that I would be responsible for the promotion and marketing of my books. Immediately the idea of a low cost, cheap way of marketing would be e-mail!

How hard could it be? Get a list of potential customer’s e-mails, send them a regular e-mail newsletter and sell lots of books! Right.

There is a lot of stuff involved with e-mail marketing, including legal issues, that a self-publisher, or any other businessman, needs to know.

This book could have been a little more use friendly for non-tech people like me, but I am not completely sure that is possible. I am beginning to come to grips with the fact that I am eventually going to have to learn to speak “computer tech” if I plan to do business.

1 Stars Not so good
I am a bit dissapointed about about this book. I hoped for more technical advise how to write good e-mails. More do’s and don’ts but this book is mainly about how to convice an organisation that e-mail marketing is important. First chapters only keep saying it is underestimated…

Jenkins’ book is a simple, straightforward, to-the-point narrative that is a must-read for email marketing veterans and newcomers to the industry alike. Broken up into easy-to-digest segments, “Truths” offers the reader the ability to focus on one or two ideas at a time, providing the information needed to earn buy-in at the C level or just simply get a download if you’re new to the game.

A great book. A must-read. I highly recommend this. I pull it out at least once a week for review of concepts.

Simms Jenkins does a great job of thoroughly explaining what can feel like a very complex and intimidating area of expertise. It’s easy to read and easy to incorporate into your day-to-day marketing efforts.

This book is a must-read for any email marketer. I passed it to my web and publishing team to give them a sense of the current trends and environment. Doesn’t hurt that Simms is a really nice guy!
